You know that famous story about the five indriyas
(senses). They decided that they were each one of them the greatest
and they went on strike.
The eyes said, "Without my vision where can you go?"
The legs said, "If we do not take you here and there you
could not even eat. What will happen if we go on strike?"
Then the hand said, "Fool! Your seeing and taking is of no
use, unless I take your food and put into your mouth."
Like this they started quarrelling. Then the atma (soul) quietly
withdrew, and then they realised who is the boss!

Q: What is the soul or atma? How do we know that it exists within
us?
Q: What would happen to you if the soul left?
O, Master!
Thou art the real goal of human life.
We are yet but slaves of wishes
Putting bar to our advancement,
Thou art the only God and power
To bring us up to that stage.
