September 21, 2010 - The International Day of Peace

The International Day of Peace was established by the UN General Assembly in 1981 for “commemorating and strengthening the ideals of peace within and among all nations and people.” Twenty years later, the General Assembly decided that September 21st would be observed annually as a “day of global ceasefire and non-violence" and invited all Member States, organizations and individuals to commemorate the day, including through education and public awareness.

Shri Ram Chandra Mission centres and their members (abhyasis) around the world will organize and participate in informational and prayer events commemorating the International Day of Peace. At these events, abhyasis and their friends, families, neighbors and associates will come together in a silent, non-denominational prayer-meditation for the integration of humanity and the well-being of the people of the world.
