Accommodation

Venue

General accommodation in tents will be available for all participants at the venue.

Hotels

A list of hotels near the venue is attached with this circular. Abhyasis are requested to book their rooms directly with the hotel. Please note the following:

  1. Hotels in Tiruvallur are limited and do not have elevators.
  2. Few Hotels are recommended but they are more than 30 minutes drive from Tiruvallur.
  3. Many hotels have offered discounts. Please inform that you are from SRCM and avail the discounts.

For any clarification or assistance, please contact Br. Loganathan Vembu, Loganathan_vembu@yahoo.com, 9840030512 or Br. Sivaram Pulakhandam (Siva), sivaramprv@gmail.com

Comfort Dorms

An independent dormitory accommodation will also be available in the venue itself, for which a separate communication will be issued soon. These dorms are an effective alternative to the hotels considering the limited number of hotels in Tiruvallur and the travel involved between the venue and the hotels, and also the limited number of hotels near the venue. These dorms would be well designed and adequate facilities would also be provided.

Weather

The weather in Tiruvallur during the celebrations is expected to be hot and humid. There may also be short spells of rain during the month of July.

Travel

Air

The nearest airport is the Chennai International Airport. The airport is well connected through various airlines from all parts of the country and it also caters to various international routes. The venue is about fifty-three kilometres from the airport. Details about transportation from the Chennai International Airport to the venue are explained in the transportation circular: http://www.sahajmarg.org/july-24-celebrations/2015/transport

Rail

The main railway stations are the Chennai Central Railway Station and Chennai Egmore Railway Station. The venue is about fifty-five kilometres from the railway station.

Tiruvallur and Arakonam are also railway stations closer to the venue at which trains are on the broad gauge stop, and abhyasis would do well to choose them.

Details about transportation from these ailway stations to the venue are explained in the transportation circular: http://www.sahajmarg.org/july-24-celebrations/2015/transport

Volunteers

We require a significant number of volunteers to be present at the venue now onwards. Some volunteers would be required to stay for about ten days after the celebration for winding-up operations, and hence are requested to plan accordingly. Volunteers arriving at the venue may report to the volunteer desk or the ashram office. Abhyasis who have volunteered in previous celebrations are encouraged to offer their services, and they may also encourage other willing abhyasis to participate in voluntary work.

Centres are requested to encourage abhyasis to participate in voluntary work. The list of volunteers with name of the centre, number of abhyasis (brothers and sisters separately), area of voluntary work, and an approximate date of arrival and departure may be sent by email to 24jul15.helpdesk@srcm.org. This will enable the organisers to plan accordingly.

Travel Advisory

Health Safety

With a measure to avoid serious health risks, it is advised that the following do not register for the celebration:

  • Abhyasis of age sixty-five (65) or above who need special assistance, care and attention.
  • Abhyasis with health problems who have been advised not to travel by their doctors.
  • Parents with children below five years of age.
  • Parents with special children who are mentally challenged.
  • Abhyasis/children (irrespective of age) requiring constant medical care with support from guardians/attendants travelling with them.

This is suggested for the safety of such abhyasis by avoiding any health risks because of the climatic conditions at the venue, and due to limited health care facilities available at the venue.
