ONE WORLD ONE HUMANITY

Meditation - Prayer for Human Integration

SHRI RAM CHANDRA MISSION AND THE UNITED NATIONS

The Shri Ram Chandra Mission (SRCM) was formally associated as a non-governmental organization (NGO) with the United Nations Department of Global Communications (UN DGC) on 12 December 2005, coincidentally when both the SRCM and the UN were marking their 60th anniversaries.

As an international non-governmental organization that works in support of the public good and fulfills the principles outlined in the UN Charter, the Shri Ram Chandra Mission joins more than 1,500 other non-governmental organizations worldwide currently associated with the UN DGC.

UN and NGOs

The United Nations recognizes that solidarity and goodwill among the world's nations and peoples, and the assumption of collective responsibility, are necessary for the establishment of a world in which everyone may enjoy lasting peace and a sustainable life. To this end, the UN has been establishing partnerships with local, national and international, non-profit, service-oriented, voluntary groups that share similar values.

Sahaj Marg, The Unifying Factor

Since its founding in 1945, the Shri Ram Chandra Mission has been providing a platform for spiritual and practical living used by people in more than 100 nations. Every day, in its ashrams and in hundreds of centres worldwide, individuals from all walks of life—diverse nationalities, religious backgrounds, social and economic circumstances—come together, transcending boundaries in an atmosphere of love, trust and brotherhood.

The Mission achieves this unity of purpose by offering, without charge to all those who are interested, a simple and practical method of spiritual training known as Sahaj Marg. Sahaj Marg supports the unfolding of the full potential within an individual, who may then assume responsibility for personal growth and social change. Over the decades, guided by the third president of the mission, Shri Parthasarathi Rajagopalachari, the Shri Ram Chandra Mission has actively promoted human integration and evoked within the hearts of its practitioners the belief that all life is sacred. The current president and the spiritual representative, Shri Kamlesh D. Patel is continuing to actively promote the involvement of the mission and foster human integration.

The Mission's involvement with the UN comes at a time when more individuals around the world are benefiting from the Mission's spiritual services, and when the emblematic purpose of the UN to become a centre for harmonizing the actions of nations is ever more in need of support.

Recognizing the urgency for people with similar values to convene on a shared platform, the Shri Ram Chandra Mission embraces this association in the faith that, ultimately, selfless actions will govern the destiny of human beings.

When we want one humankind, one humanity, one world, perhaps one universe someday, we have to find the uniting factor, not the dividing factor! And that is what I think spirituality is all about.

In our aims we have the highest. It is the oneness of all humans and a human brotherhood in which there is no separation, no alienation, no differentiation.
