About International Expo 2025 in Japan

The 2025 World Expo in Osaka officially kicked off on Sunday, April 13th, 2025. The theme of Osaka Expo is “Designing a Future Society for Our Lives”, with the sub- themes of “Saving lives, Empowering lives, Connecting lives”.

Osaka is located on the island of Honshu in the Kansai region of central Japan. It is the capital and most populous city of Osaka Prefecture and is known as the economic and cultural center of the Kansai region. Osaka is a large metropolitan area, the second largest in Japan after Tokyo.

The Expo site is Yumeshima, an artificial island with an area of 1.55 Sq km. The India Pavilion is located on the west side of the Expo Site, on a plot measuring 3,513 Sq. m. in the ‘Connecting Lives Zone’ sub-theme.

The official mascot of the Osaka Expo 2025 is Myaku-Myaku. It represents “cells” that separate and multiply, while its blue parts convey an image of water that can freely transform. The character’s name refers to the hope that human DNA, knowledge, and history can be passed down like a continuous “pulse.”

The official mascot of the India Pavilion, Mayur, embodies the spirit of grace, vibrancy, and resilience—a true reflection of India's rich cultural heritage and global aspirations.
