Highlights and glimpses from the celebrations of auspicious occasion of 50th anniversary of Shahjahanpur ashram

2026.7 - Monday, 23 March 2026

Dear Sisters and Brothers,

Basant 2026 marked fifty years since Pujya Babuji Maharaj inaugurated the Shahjahanpur Ashram, the birthplace of Sahaj Marg, where our Heartfulness movement took root. To honour this auspicious anniversary, beloved Daaji brought us together in five assemblies, both in person and online, from February 11 to March 2, 2026.

To relive glimpses from these gatherings, you may watch the following highlights:

Beloved Daaji also released a souvenir celebrating the story of how the ashram came to be, including Babuji's reluctance to proceed, the miracles that kept happening when obstacles were faced, and the sacrifices that never made it into any record. You can purchase this souvenir from the link below.

You can also purchase the commemorative coins released during the event.

In the Foreword, Beloved Daaji wrote, "Belonging is not a feeling, it’s a reflex. It is being careful and taking care of what we love." That concept set the tone for everything that happened during this Basant.

Months before the first Bhandara happened, abhyasis were already at Shahjahanpur, involved in building, cleaning, painting, repairing, gardening, arranging, and many more tasks to rejuvenate the ashram. Others contributed financially, often anonymously. Coordinators, preceptors, volunteers, kitchen teams, and logistics teams all contributed in a sustained manner from October 2025 to February 2026. Thousands joined across the five batches, and the atmosphere in each was joyful and focused. Beloved Daaji and Shri Ram Chandra Mission are deeply grateful to everyone who gave something of themselves to this grand effort.

As well as conducting satsangh twice daily, beloved Daaji offered a personal message for each of the five assemblies, and together the messages form a single thread. Each one focused on an inner obstacle that stalls our growth, and what allows us to shed that obstacle and march on toward the ultimate goal. The talk that he gave on the final day was then the pinnacle and integration of all the messages.

In fact, two messages were given by Beloved Daaji at Kanha Shanti Vanam, during Basant Panchami, prior to the 50th anniversary of the Shahjahanpur Ashram. The second of these was ‘The Divided Heart’, about the human tendency to feed opposing things simultaneously, so moving fully toward neither. He then guided us to prepare for the shift that changes everything when the heart is ready to focus on our evolution. The next message was the first at Shahjahanpur, ‘The Awakening of Purpose’, about overcoming the inertia that happens when energy exists but has no real direction. The second at Shahjahanpur was ‘Building a Strong Foundation’, about moving from the doubt that dismisses its own experience to the building of commitment, purpose, and trust. The third was ‘Reaching for the Sky’, about the role of the ego, and how humility dissolves the ceiling created by the ego. The fourth, ‘Facing Your Own Horizon’, was about the sideways gaze of comparison with others, which leads to a bleeding heart, and its antidote in the contentment and acceptance of walking your own path. And the fifth was ‘Beyond the Walls You Cannot See’, about the evolution from prejudice toward openness.

The remedies beloved Daaji kept returning to are courage, humility, faith, cleaning, and joy. And his closing point, consistent across all five, was Pujya Babuji's own phrase, “Become nobody.” This is our practical destination. He pointed out that even aspiring to be “a better nobody” is still the work of the ego.

Beloved Daaji also announced that the birth anniversary of Babuji Maharaj, which falls on April 30, 2026, will be celebrated at Shahjahanpur Ashram in two batches, as well as at Kanha Shanti Vanam. The details and registration links will be shared soon.

Fifty years ago, Pujya Babuji built something profound and simple in Shahjahanpur. He charged the meditation hall for thousands of years, and Beloved Daaji reminded us that we are only at the beginning of that timeline. How we carry this forward, in our practice, in our families, and in our centres, will be the real continuation of what was celebrated this Basant.

With gratitude, togetherness, joy, and love, as we share Heartfulness with the world, we offer our hearts at the feet of the Masters and renew the one resolve Beloved Daaji left with us: to become nobody, so that love and transmission can work freely through us, in our homes, our centres, and our lives.

With heartful regards,
Heartfulness Celebrations Team
